Presidency University was authorised by the Ministry of Education on 21 July 2003 and opened to students that September. It was started by the Presidency University Foundation, a group of teachers, business leaders and retired government officers, and teaches from a campus in Gulshan-2, Dhaka, with support from the Abul Khair Group.
