Scholarships & funding for study abroad

Studying overseas is more affordable than many families think. Here is how scholarships work, how to strengthen your chances, and how to make the most of them at BIEE.

The basics

Types of funding you can aim for

Most students combine more than one of these to bring the cost down.

πŸ†

Merit scholarships

Awarded on academic results, test scores or a strong portfolio. Often a partial tuition waiver (10–100%) offered directly by the university.

🀝

Need-based aid

Support for students who show financial need. More common in the USA and at private institutions — ask each university what it offers.

πŸ›οΈ

Government scholarships

Fully- or partly-funded national schemes such as Chevening, Fulbright, DAAD and MEXT (see below). Competitive, with fixed deadlines.

πŸ“

Application-fee waivers

Many universities waive the application fee for students who apply at the expo — a small but real saving on every application.

At the expo

How to win scholarships at BIEE

You are meeting decision-makers in person — use it.

πŸ“„

Bring your documents

Transcripts, certificates and IELTS/TOEFL results let representatives assess you on the spot — some issue scholarship decisions during the fair.

πŸ—£οΈ

Ask directly

Ask every booth: “What scholarships or fee waivers do you offer, and what’s the deadline?” Advertised amounts are often negotiable on strong profiles.

⏰

Apply early

The biggest awards close months before intake. Applying during or right after the expo puts you ahead of the deadline crush.
